Sarah Palin Cal State Stanislaus

I don’t have anything against Sarah Palin making a living talking about whatever she wants to talk about.  I have listened to Sarah Palin speak many times talk about things that were important to her and although I may not agree with her sometimes.  Sometimes I do and othertimes I don’t even understand what she is talking about.

But I think that is likely true of most people that share their opinions, they are uniquely theirs so we agree or disagree with them based on what we know, don’t know, or how we feel about a subject.  I have yet to meet anyone I agree with 100%!  (other than my wife of course) :)  lol...

I do have a bit of an issue with this however.  Did I read this article correctly?  Cal State Stanislaus canceled 28 scholarships to pay for Sarah Palin to speak at the campus?  I also understand they had a floor redone for her, or where she was speaking?  (I don’t know if that is true, just a rumor).  So providing education is no longer the school primary focus?

Courtney Jespersen from Ripon Christian High had a 4.4 grade point average.  She lost her scholarship because of this.  The good news for her is that the professors at Cal State Stanislaus stepped in to correct this by donating the money themselves.

So I am left with mixed feelings about CSUS.  As an organization of higher education, personally I feel that they didn’t act very intelligently and I think the other 27 students that didn’t receive a scholarship because CSUS paid for a speaker likely agree with me.  But on the other hand, and this is a big deal to me, I am very proud of the professors and others that stepped in and did what they could to help, and wanted to say thank you!
